Beyond Comments: Finding Meaningful Ways To Connect

In order to fulfill our responsibility as a trusted news source and strengthen other ways of building community, VPR will discontinue comments on VPR.org on July 8.

Accurate, timely information is more essential than ever. In order to fulfill our responsibility to you as a trusted news source and strengthen other ways of building community, we will discontinue comments on VPR.org on July 8.
We’re making this change to focus our resources on more meaningful forms of engagement, and to produce more of the independent, fact-based local journalism our community needs. We can't realistically fact-check each comment, or catch every violation of our comment policy. Misinformation or abusive behavior diminishes the public service we are striving to provide.

With this change, VPR joins a growing number of news organizations choosing to move conversations about its journalism to other platforms. NPR disabled story comments in 2016 and never looked back. Locally, Seven Days closed comments on its site earlier this year.

Our success depends on our ability to connect with you: it is fundamental to our public media mission. Your participation is not just welcome—it’s essential. To that end, we’re working to incorporate more of your feedback, questions and ideas into our storytelling, and making it easier to contact our reporters and producers. And of course, we’ll continue to host constructive, civil conversations on Vermont Edition and other programs and events.

We absolutely want (and need!) to hear from you! Here’s a quick list of ways to get in touch with us:

  • Send us an email! We read every message we receive and it is shared with the entire VPR staff.
  • Call us and leave a voicemail message at 1-800-639-2192.
  • Tweet us @vprnet, comment on our Instagram posts @vprnet or on our Facebook page.
  • Submit an anonymous tip here.
  • Send news tips and press releases to news(at)vpr(dot)net.

You’ll find a full list of ways to contact us here.
