Vermont Public Radio has named Helen Lyons as VPR Classical’s morning host. Lyons will share classical music with listeners weekday mornings from 7-10 a.m. beginning February 13.

"As a lifelong listener to VPR, I am delighted and honored to join an organization I love and respect so much. I look forward to bringing my passion for classical music to the VPR community, and to being a part of our listeners' morning routine!"

Lyons is a Williston native and professional opera singer who has performed as a soloist with orchestras all over the world. Locally, she sang the role of Cio-Cio San in BARN Opera’s debut production of Madama Butterfly in 2018, and will sing the role of Tosca with BARN Opera in December 2019. She has also performed with Burlington’s First Night, The Vermont Mozart Festival, and will sing this spring with the Vermont Virtuosi ensemble and as the soprano soloist in Robert Aldridge’s oratorio Parables with the Bennington Choral Society.

Helen teaches private classical voice lessons at her South Burlington studio, and enjoys working with students of all ages and levels.

“Helen is a musician with so many talents, and such warmth and generosity in sharing them,” said Director Of Programming Kari Anderson. “We're so thrilled to have her as part of the VPR Classical family, and for her to share her musical insights and experiences with our listeners on weekday mornings!"

Michelle leads the team that oversees station branding, marketing, events, communications, and audience services. She joined VPR in 2002.
