'All Things Considered' Host Alex Keefe, seen here in the studio, with ATC producer Annie Russell and hosting with his dog Sallie, will be leaving VPR January 13 to return to WBEZ in Chicago, Illinois.

Alex Keefe, VPR’s local host of All Things Considered and co-host of the podcast Brave Little State, will be leaving VPR next month to return to his hometown of Chicago as senior editor for government & politics at public radio station WBEZin Chicago, Illinois.

"My decision to leave VPR was difficult, but the opportunity in Chicago was one I just couldn't pass up,” Alex said. “I've valued the time I've spent in Vermont, the connections I've made with listeners here, the work that we've done and the stories we've told."

Alex joined VPR as host of All Things Considered in 2014. In a short time he helped strengthen VPR’s local news presence through daily conversations with Vermonters and newsmakers. He is also co-host and co-creator of the people-powered journalism podcast Brave Little State, in which the audience asks the questions and votes on what VPR investigates. Angela Evancie, who created and hosts the podcast with Alex, will continue producing new episodes of the show.

"While we are excited to see Alex advance his career with a senior position in a large market, we are very sorry to see him go,” said John Van Hoesen, VPR’s senior vice president and chief content officer. “During his tenure at VPR, Alex brought much to VPR, including a strong and friendly presence as host of All Things Considered as well as a creative spirit in projects like Brave Little State.”

All of us at VPR wish Alex and his family the very best and we will miss them dearly. Alex’s last day at VPR is Jan.13, 2017.

Michelle leads the team that oversees station branding, marketing, events, communications, and audience services. She joined VPR in 2002.
