With my first couple of months at VPR under my belt and the debut of the Mapping the Money project behind me, it's time to start contributing to the community!
For our first open source effort, we've published our Vermont choropleth to a github repository under the Apache License, Version 2.0. For those who aren't map geeks, a choropleth is a map where regions are shaded based on their relation to some dataset; electoral college maps, with their "Red state" and "Blue state" designations are a simple example.
Look for more open source contributions from us in the future and an increased tech presence on VPR.net. I'll be blogging about technology decisions and will provide explanatory posts about interesting projects shortly after their publication.
