Galbraith Poised To Announce Political Plans

Former Windham Sen. Peter Galbraith, a Democrat who’s been publicly considering a run for governor since last summer, will hold a press conference in the Statehouse on Tuesday at 11 a.m., presumably to announce his political plans.

Galbraith recently updated his political Facebook profile, which is now titled “Peter Galbraith for VT Governor.”

Galbraith, the U.S. ambassador to Croatia during the presidential administration of President Bill Clinton, served two terms in the Vermont Senate. The former diplomat opted not to seek reelection in 2014, citing a desire to help negotiate a political solution to the civil war in Syria.

Galbraith in recent weeks and months has said the current Democratic candidates for governor, Sue Minter and Matt Dunne, haven’t embraced the kinds of progressive policy platforms Democrats are looking for.

The Vermont Statehouse is often called the people’s house. I am your eyes and ears there. I keep a close eye on how legislation could affect your life; I also regularly speak to the people who write that legislation.
