In Rutland, Businesses Are Inviting Google Street View Inside

Google Street View is going indoors in Rutland. Working with the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday, Google photographers are taking 360 degree interior pictures of Rutland businesses that have signed on and paid for the service. "The Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce has partnered with the Google Maps 'Street View' photography team to bring the popular Street View technology inside our local business establishments to showcase our area businesses in Google Maps and Google Search," a chamber press release states. "We are so excited to bring this amazing new Google exposure opportunity for our members!"

With Street View, online searches reveal 360 degree images of the inside of businesses, such as Rutland's Shear Heaven Salon & Day Spa pictured below.

As part of the program, Google is providing the Rutland Region Chamber of Commerce with a custom Virtual Business & Area Guide for its website.

"This Guide is a portal built from all of our member businesses that participate in this program, the press release states. "Participating business will be categorically listed in a the navigation menu. We’ll be putting this prominently on our website as a resource for visitors and locals!"

Businesses are being charged $199 to participate.
