A Burlington Police officer keeps watch outside the building, the morning after Vermont State Police and federal agents shot and killed Kenneth Stephens. Burlington's Police Commission has now raised concerns about how the December raid was executed.

Following a deadly drug raid in December, members of Burlington's Police Commission questioned police about how the raid was executed.

The Dec. 22, 2015 raid was planned and conducted by Drug Enforcement Administration agents with assistance from Burlington, Essex and Vermont State Police.

56-year-old Kenneth Stephens, a suspected drug dealer, was killed in the raid.

VPR’s Kari Anderson spoke with Commission Chair Sarah Kenney about the Commission’s concerns.

Annie Russell was VPR's Deputy News Director. She came to VPR from NPR's Weekends on All Things Considered and WNYC's On The Media. She is a graduate of Columbia Journalism School.
