Vermont Education Staffer Accused Of Child Sexual Assault

Vermont’s Agency of Education is confirming that an administrative assistant to Secretary Rebecca Holcombe and to the State Board of Education was arrested on Friday, charged with child sex assault.

The Agency released the following statement Monday morning:

"We are shocked and disturbed by the allegations. Perry Thompson has been relieved of his duties and placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation. As this point, we are letting law enforcement do their full and thorough investigation. We appreciate their professionalism and are cooperating fully to support the investigation. We have very little information at this time. Any new information will come from those investigating authorities."

According to WCAX, Thompson, 42, was arrested by the Orange County Special Investigations Unit  “accused of sexually assaulting a boy over a three year period starting when the child was 13.”
