Sen. Bernie Sanders will kick off his 2016 presidential run in Burlington next Tuesday. Gov. Peter Shumlin apparently won’t be participating in the festivities.
About two hours after Sanders’ staff notified media of his waterfront announcement, Shumlin used his campaign Twitter account to announce his endorsement of Hillary Clinton:
Proud to endorse @HillaryClinton—a lifelong champion for everyday Americans. -Peter

Shumlin isn’t the first high-profile Vermont politician to side with Clinton over Sanders. Sen. Patrick Leahy previously threw his support behind the former New York senator.
