King Arthur Flour CEO Steve Voigt will step down next month. Voigt has led the company since 1999 and his tenure spanned the transition from a family-owned business to an employee-owned corporation.
In announcing Voigt’s resignation, the company said the Board of Directors has selected four senior employees to form a team to lead King Arthur. Michael Bittel, Ralph Carlton, Karen Colberg, and Suzanne McDowell will assume their new responsibilities on June 30.
According to a company news release, Voigt is leaving to work with other employee-owned companies and with Benefit Corporations, a relatively new class of businesses in which social and environmental values are institutionalized as part of a company’s mission.
