Film Groups Join Forces In Burlington

Sareet Rosenstein
Burlington Film Society Director Barry Snyder, left, Vermont International Film Foundation Executive Director Orly Yadin and BFS Co-Director Eric Ford are hoping their organizations' parnership will further cultivate Vermont's film culture.

Film fans in the Burlington area heard some welcome news last week.

The Burlington Film Society has partnered with the Vermont International Film Foundation, in the hopes of cultivating Vermont’s film culture.

Ford says the BFS will benefit from teaming with a professional non-profit organization, rather than having to rely on volunteer support.

He says the Film Foundation, which presents the annual Burlington International Film Festival,  will be a great boon to the Film Society's weekly screenings at the Main Street Landing.

Ford believes that audiences have grown used to home viewing, but can be drawn back to theaters by creative marketing and presentation.

He says that membership will strengthen the ability to present what he calls "Community Cinema" year-round.
