South American culture comes alive in a new book by Vermont author Elizabeth Conrad VanBuskirk.

“Beyond The Stones Of Machu Picchu” offers up folk tales and stories of Inca life, some traditional, and some adapted by VanBuskirk, who has taught courses on Inca history and culture at the University of Vermont.

The stories reflect both the natural and supernatural worlds of the high Andes, and are inspired by legend, tradition and daily life.

The book also features paintings by Peruvian artist Angel Callaneaupa Alvarez.
