Montpelier Mayor John Hollar announced Wednesday that he plans to run for reelection in 2014.
At the city council’s meeting, the Democratic mayor outlined major accomplishments since his election in 2012 and set forth his hopes for the future.
“We need to fulfill our goal of making Montpelier a nationally known bike and pedestrian friendly community,” Hollar said. He also named parking as a priority, referencing the city’s shortage of public parking.
Hollar’s work since taking office has focused largely on infrastructure. The city has nearly completed a multi-million dollar municipal heating plant for downtown businesses.
Officials also announced last week that the city closed a deal to purchase an empty surface lot with plans to develop it as a multi-modal transit hub.
Hollar also works as a lobbyist for Downs Rachlin Martin in Montpelier.
