Champlain College and the University of Vermont are both on the rise within the higher education community, according to new U.S. News & World Report Rankings released today.
Champlain took first place in list of "up-and-coming" colleges in the northeast, and UVM was 14th in the nation on the "up-and-coming" list. Those schools are chosen based on an annual survey of college and university administrators.
The U.S. News & World Report rankings placed Middlebury College as the fourth-best national liberal arts college and UVM as the 34th-best public university in the country. Champlain, ranked as a regional school, was deemed the 14th best in the northeast.
Vermont Technical College was ranked 33rd in the northeast while the other Vermont State Colleges weren't assigned ranks.
Norwich University in Northfield came in 74th in the northeast.
In the national rankings, St. Michael's College was ranked the 89th-best national college and Bennington College rounded out the top liberal arts colleges at number 100.
Dartmouth College in New Hampshire ranked tenth in the ranks of national universities.
