Cancer Support Organization Closing

A non-profit organization that helps cancer survivors in Vermont, New Hampshire and western Massachusetts is shutting down due to dwindling funding.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports that while Forest Moon has been successful in winning grants, a steep drop in local individual donors forced the group's board of directors to shut it down.

The organization was started in 2006 by Cindy and Phil Blood of Guilford, two cancer survivors who wanted to promote artistic, spiritual and emotional support for people going through cancer treatment.

Last year, Forest Moon and its partners conducted 232 programs serving more than 200 individuals and their families. Some of the group's partners will continue those programs.
