Vt. Sells $10.3 Million In Transportation Bonds

Officials with the Vermont Treasurer's office say the sale of $10.3 million in transportation infrastructure bonds will ensure the state can receive $64 million in federal funding for road and bridge repairs statewide.

Treasurer Beth Pearce says the money raised through the bond sale will allows the state to match federal fund requirements for 17 projects. Of those, six projects are part of the continuing recovery from Tropical Storm Irene.

Some of the projects include the replacement of bridges in Brighton, Hancock, Jamaica, and Plymouth that were damaged by the storm.

Roadway projects include the construction of an alternate truck route on Vermont Route 100 in Morristown and road reconstruction and safety improvements in Brandon, Montpelier, the city of Rutland and in White River Junction.
