NY Police Find Body Of Shelburne Man

Authorities say police divers have found the body of a Vermont man who went missing after jumping off a cliff on the western shore of Lake Champlain.

New York State Police say their divers found the body of 39-year-old Michael Mindell of Shelburne around 6:15 p.m. Monday, two days after he disappeared during an outing with friends.

Troopers say the group was swimming Sunday after pulling their boat up to the Palisades Cliffs in Essex County town of Westport. Police say Mindell climbed up the cliffs to a height of about 150 feet, then jumped off. After hitting the water and going under, Mindell didn't resurface.

Police, the Coast Guard and local emergency crews searched the lake for two days before finding his body.

An autopsy is scheduled Tuesday morning.
