A lawyer for Governor Peter Shumlin says he's hopeful a dispute about a real estate deal could be settled this week.
Shumlin bought his neighbor Jerry Dodge's property for $58,000 last fall, as Dodge was facing a tax sale on the property. The property was later valued by the town at $140,000.
Montpelier lawyer Jerome Diamond is representing Shumlin. He says the two sides are reviewing a number of options to settle the complaints voiced by Dodge and his family.
Since the end of the deal, Dodge and his allies have complained that Shumlin acted unfairly. Shumlin agreed several weeks ago to renegotiate the deal.
