Vermont State Rep. Larry Townsend of Randolph has died after a battle with cancer.
The Day Funeral Home in Randolph confirmed the death on Monday. Townsend, died Saturday at home. He was 66 years old.
The three-term Democrat served on the House Government Operations Committee, and was active in the effort to redraw legislative districts following the 2010 census.
House Speaker Shap Smith praised Townsend as a valued member of the Legislature, who brought a strong sense of fairness and a keen sense of humor.
The funeral is planned for 9 a.m. Saturday at the Randolph Union High School.
