Trustees for the union representing Vermont state employees have voted to fire the labor group's executive director, but the union's president says he could be reinstated.
Vermont State Employees' Association President John Reese says Thursday voted to fire Mark Mitchell. The vote came after undisclosed allegations were raised about Mitchell.
Reese says he disagreed with and voted against the firing.
Mitchell says he got a letter saying he had breached his employment contract, but that he hasn't been told what the alleged breach was.
Reese says the board meets again in emergency session on Monday and that a larger union council meets Tuesday. The council could reverse the board's action with a two-thirds vote.
