The top Vermont National Guard official dealing with the F-35 issue is planning to speak with reporters to discuss a revised environmental report of possibly basing the new fighter jets at Vermont's largest airport.
The official plans to meet with reporters Thursday afternoon at Camp Johnson in Colchester.
Opponents of the plan hope that the revised report will spark more discussions between local officials and people who would be affected by the noisier planes.
The F-35s are noisier than the F-16s they would replace.
Updated census data for the area around the Burlington International Airport shows that about 2,000 more people would be affected by the noisier planes.
