There are many young people across Vermont who are talented music performers. But you may not know that hundreds of these students are also talented music composers.
And twice a year, a select few are chosen to have their works performed in public by professional musicians. It also means the kids get to instruct the adults in how to play the music they composed. It's part of Music-COMP (Music Composition Online Mentoring Program), an organization dedicated to fostering the education of Vermont’s student composers through a network of composer mentors across the country who interact with the student via Music-COMP’s submission and review website
VPR Classical host Joe Goetz attended one of these performances recently and brought back this report.
