Secretary of State Jim Condos says federal and state grants will help Vermont town clerks, libraries and other keepers of records protect them from disasters.
Condos says the Vermont Historical Records Advisory Board will use the money — more than $35,000 — to support a series of regional workshops on emergency planning for records repositories throughout the state.
More than $33,000 of the money is coming from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission, with an additional $2,400 from the Vermont Humanities Council.
Condos says the goal is to help local keepers of records enable themselves to protect the records from fires, floods and other disasters.
