Body Of Missing Boater Recovered From Passumpsic River

Vermont State Police say divers have recovered the body of a 22-year-old man from the Passumpsic River after a canoe he was in overturned more than a week ago.

Police say an autopsy will be performed on the body of Zachary Florio of Passumpsic to determine the manner and cause of death.

Police were called to the river in Barnet at 2 p.m. on April 24 for the report of a canoe with three adults in it that had overturned.

Police say 33-year-old Michael Dalton, of Sutton, and 29-year-old Jessica Florio, of Barnet, were with Florio, but they managed to swim to shore.

Police have been searching the river since last week. Divers from the New Hampshire Fish & Game recovered the body on Thursday afternoon.
