Vermont Symphony at the Paramount: East Meets West

Vermont Symphony at the Paramount: East Meets West

VSO welcomes Sandeep Das, a member of the Silk Road Ensemble and collaborator with Paquito D’Rivera, Bobby McFerrin, and Yo-Yo Ma, and sitarist Rajib Karmakar for the first movement of Indian classical composer Ravi Shankar’s Symphony. Das follows with Dinuk Wijeratne’s brilliant Tabla Concerto that explores baroque, electronica, folk, and romantic styles. The concert completes its East/West connection with Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition, a hugely popular work orchestrated by Maurice Ravel that shows the full colors and virtuosity of the symphony orchestra. Conducted by VSO Music Director Andrew Crust.
