Connection Conversations

Connection Conversations
Made possible by Vermont Humanities, Connection Conversations is a virtual meetup to learn more together about the power that meaningful social connection has to help us, our families and our communities to thrive. Starting with a 15-minute presentation by our Founder, Jeanette Langston, these meetups create space and time for people of all ages and backgrounds to gather virtually and take a deeper dive into the subject of social connection. You've probably seen articles or heard about it on the radio. Maybe you've even heard the popular statistic that “Lacking social connection is comparable to smoking up to 15 cigarettes per day.”
After a short presentation, we'll give you time to ask questions and share your thoughts. Next, we'll send you into breakout rooms with your fellow curious humans and a couple of thought-provoking questions to really dive into the topic together. Maybe you'll even meet a new friend! We'll return to the large group at the end to review our next steps and you'll walk away with a Connection Challenge and a desire to learn more! So we'll see you again in September and October too!
Participants will gain an understanding of:
1. Social Connection (what it means and how it impacts us)
2. Barriers to this connection (personal and interpersonal)
3. Actions to break down these barriers and build social connection within communities.
There are three parts to this series, gradually deepening our shared understanding and action:
August 21
September 18
October 16

At Social Tinkering we're building grassroots community actions that grow meaningful social connection together, starting with welcoming and inclusive social meetup spaces. We're working with individuals and partners all across Vermont to ask people why they aren't feeling connected and then we're taking action together.
