Artist Reception for Heart of Barre at Vermont State House
Artist Reception for Heart of Barre at Vermont State House
You are invited to an artist reception for "Heart of Barre," which will be held at the Vermont State House. This exhibition showcases the stories of 23 individuals whose lives were impacted by the floods in the Barre area. "Heart of Barre" provides an opportunity for viewers to connect with fellow Vermonters through painted images, audio clips from interviews, and written poetry and prose, allowing participants to see themselves reflected in these experiences.
The Artist Reception will take place on October 3rd from 4 PM to 7 PM in the Card Room of the Vermont State House. This event offers a chance to engage with the artists who created this two-year project, as well as some individuals who shared their personal flood stories.
The "Heart of Barre" exhibition includes two large 80x80 paintings and 24 pieces of supporting material, which consist of poems, prose, and bios of the participants. Each person's interview is summarized in a small snippet, accessible via QR codes, creating a conversation that unfolds across three different modalities: visual, written, and auditory.
