My Place: The British Invasion Of 1964

This week My Place looks back exactly fifty years to what has been labeled the "British Invasion" of American popular music.

The year was 1964 when The Beatles scored their first number one million-selling hit single in January only to follow that with a remarkable thirty additional hit records that one calendar year alone. The Beatles' success opened the door for other British acts in the USA, and this week's My Place features not only The Beatles, but also Dave Clark Five, The Animals, Peter and Gordon as well as a dozen other British hitmakers from 1964.

Broadcast Saturday, March 22, 2014 at 8:00 p.m. But listen online anytime!
