Clyde Otis was a pioneer in the burgeoning popular music industry of the 1950's as the first African American to head the artist & repertoire division of a major label American record company. During his career, Clyde Otis wrote and/or produced major hits for many famous recording artists, including Brook Benton, Dinah Washington and Sarah Vaughan.
