Art Hounds: Welcoming A New Year

Dr. Sue Deppe of Colchester, Vermont, called the VPR Art Hounds hotline to recommended the Green Mountain Mahler Festival's New Year's Day concert of Beethoven's 9th Symphony.

Deppe is involved in her local arts community and serves as a church musician.

The concert at Elley-Long Music at St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vermont, begins at 3 p.m., and includes an orchestra and choir, performing the well-known 9th Symphony of Beethoven, best known as the Ode to Joy.

Jerry Aldrich called the VPR Art Hounds hotline to rave about his town's First Night celebration, with more than 175 performers at different venues throughout the town.

This is the 20th year that First Night St. Johnsbury has helped locals and visitors ring in the new year.
