Vermont's Northeast Kingdom is a tri-county area with an almost mythic rural reputation. But just how culturally different is it from the rest of Vermont? Can its difference be quantified?

To answer this listener question, Brave Little State, Vermont Public Radio's people-powered journalism project, looked at the numbers for measures such as weather, religious practice and political partisanship — and also collected observations from residents of the region.
