It’s do-over time at the Legislature for a campaign finance bill. Lawmakers passed a campaign finance reform bill last month, and Governor Peter Shumlin signed it into law. But the legislation contains a major mistake and lawmakers will have to address the issue soon. According to a recent report, people with mental illness who need hospitalization in Vermont may wait days to get admitted to a hospital. Such long delays can seem unbearable to patients who are already agitated. So Northeast Kingdom Human Services is training people to provide support to them in the hospital or at home. Some of those companions are people who have also experienced mental illness. The Vermont Health Department confirms there have been three drug overdose deaths in Addison County from the painkiller fentanyl.
