An advisory group is poised to take recommendations to the state on how to implement a new measure of economic well-being. Last year the Legislature gave a green light for the establishment of a Genuine Progress Indicator to help policy makers make informed decisions. As VPR’s Steve Zind reports, there’s increasing interest in many states to incorporate a GPI in policy decisions. A Vermont college student who removed American flags set up to commemorate the Sept. 11 attacks has been suspended for a year. In New Hampshire, leaking at the Gorham Dam prompted the National Weather Service to issue flash flood warnings for communities downstream.
