Leaving Their Legacy

The Bonifaces

Theodore and Donald Boniface of Jeffersonville and Burlington were auspiciously introduced to one another by a mutual friend 17 years ago and have been together ever since. While Ted is primarily a VPR Classical listener, Don prefers waking up with VPR News. Together, they enjoy programs that have live audiences, such as Wait, Wait…Don’t Tell Me, A Prairie Home Companion, and From The Top.

Both say that the programming reflects the values and characteristics of Vermonters.

"It is easy to feel a personal link with members of the VPR staff because of their honest, natural presentations, sharing their love and enthusiasm for all things and people of Vermont," Ted said.

Because VPR plays such an important role in their lives, Ted and Don have taken the visionary step to ensure VPR’s success for future generations by joining the Phillips Legacy Society and including VPR in their estate plans.

"We were pleased to discover the possibility and ease of offering a financial planned gift to VPR. We feel there is more to leaving a legacy than just honoring friends and family when resolving our estate."

Although they have a “fairly modest income and assets,” Ted said they were both surprised and delighted to learn they were able to make a significant gift.

“It gave us a great feeling of satisfaction to be able to put our dream in place now,” Ted said.
