June 2014 Membership Drive Updates

VPR's June Membership Drive is June 10-21 with a goal to raise $325,000, which helps pay for all of the news, music, and conversation you rely on. I hope you'll join VPR or renew your membership today, and check back here throughout the drive for updates.

Update for Saturday, June 21, 12:26 p.m.

YOU did it! Thanks to a last minute push, VPR listeners put us over the top of our membership drive goal! We simply couldn't do it without you. Many thanks to the more than 3,200 people who made a contribution during the drive. Looks like we'll be climbing to the top of Mt. Mansfield after all!

Update for Saturday, June 21, 8 a.m. THE TOP OF VERMONT CHALLENGE

We have $40,000 to raise by the end of the drive at noon today to reach the overall goal and to end the drive successfully. We have amazing incentives to today to help get us there:

  1. We're giving away 2 round-trip airline tickets courtesy of Child/Albany Travel. You don't have to pledge to win (rules here), but we hope you do!
  2. The Top Of Vermont Challenge: if we make the goal today at noon, a group of VPR staff pledge to climb to the top of Vermont - Mount Mansfield - and record a thank you message to our listeners and supporters. Really! We're asking listeners to pledge their support so we can climb a steep hill to meet drive goal of $325,000, so we're pledging to do the same, to climb the steepest hill around and thank you from the summit!

Pledge to support VPR because you listen and value the programming and the public service, but pledge today for your chance to win and so that we have to climb Mount Mansfield for you!

Update for Wednesday, June 18:

Under $100,000 to go! Or, $99,277 to be exact, and we will meet our overall goal. So far, we've received 2,403 pledges. The end is in sight!

A few highlights from the last day: Yesterday, we offered a dollar for dollar challenge between 3 and 7 p.m., which raised $10,000 for VPR, for a total of $20,000!

This morning, our listeners rose to the occasion to meet both challenge goals - 25 pledges by 7 a.m. and 125 by 9 a.m., which brought in an additional $7,500!

Update for Monday, June 16:

We're more than halfway there! As of this afternoon we've raised $179,093 from 1,884 pledges to VPR! We're we'll on our way to meeting our overall goal of $325,000 by Saturday as long as listeners like you continue stepping up.

To contribute, share a photo of your pet on Twitter, Instagram, or VPR’s Facebook Page, and use the hashtag #VPRpets.

Every day, listeners tell us that Vermont Public Radio is more than just a number on the dial: they feel ownership of VPR. And it’s true: VPR is YOUR public radio station:

  • VPR is your companion, bringing you an eclectic mix of news, music, and conversation any time of day or night.
  • VPR is your lifeline: it’s there when, where, and how you want it: at home, at work, in the car, and on your smart phone.
  • VPR is your community: where you go to connect with your neighbors around issues that affect your life, the arts, and all the news of the day.
  • VPR is YOUR public radio station – and together, it’s all of ours, too.

Public service is at the very center of our mission, but we don’t do it alone. We are proud to be funded primarily by our 28,000 members who make up VPR's largest and most stable source of funding. We rely on your financial support, which has allowed VPR to carry out its public service to our community year after year. In a complex world, VPR helps you sort out what matters, making sense from the noise and chaos. We're counting on you to help us meet this important goal by giving what you can today. And thanks!
