In a tweet Monday, March 14, 2022, Rep. Peter Welch said he had tested positive for COVID-19.

Rep. Peter Welch has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a twitter announcement Monday evening, Welch said his symptoms are mild, and he'll be isolating and working from home this week.

Welch, a Democrat, urged all eligible Vermonters to get vaccinated and boosted.

Welch, 74, is the highest-ranking public official in Vermont to disclose a positive COVID test.

Karen has a long history with public radio, beginning in the early 2000's with the launch of the weekly classical music program, Sunday Bach. Karen's undergraduate degree is in Broadcast Journalism, and she has worked for public radio in Vermont and St. Louis, MO, in areas of production, programming, traffic, operations and news. She has produced many projects for broadcast over the years, including the Vermont Public Choral Hour, with host Linda Radtke, and interviews with local newsmakers with Morning Edition host Mitch Wertlieb. In 2021 Karen worked with co-producer Betty Smith on a national collaboration with StoryCorps One Small Step, connecting Vermonters one conversation at a time.
