This week, VPR's Mary Engisch spoke with Chris Mays, staff writer for the Brattleboro Reformer. Mays wrote about local middle school students who found the town's Civil War monument was missing many names of those who served who were predominantly people of color.
You can read Chris Mays' story in the Brattleboro Reformer here.
VPR reported on this issue in January. But as Mays writes in his more recent story, there is a renewed effort for the town to correct the omission following an instance of vandalism on a different but nearby veterans monument calling attention to the service of people of color.
Mays also reported on visiting the Brattleboro Area Farmers' Market, newly adapted for COVID-19.
