You've probably noticed you're seeing - and therefore scrutinizing - your own image and those of others more and more these days. Vermont multi-disciplinary artists Mary Admasian and Kristen M. Watson noticed, too.
The two artists came together on an exhibit called The SHE Project, Part 1. It's a collaborative and interactive show of installation pieces that sets its sites on questioning self-image and self-branding in the digital age.
The exhibit, up now at UVM's Living and Learning Gallery, includes installation pieces made using an art form called femmage - a collage made from found and stored objects that express a female narrative.
The two artists gathered found objects and containers from the health and beauty industry, like lotion bottles, nail polish, cosmetics, fabrics, hair dye and different sized and shaped mirrors. They used these materials to build both individual and collaborative installation pieces.
Both Admasian and Watson have individual exhibits at other venues but plan to continue their collaboration with The SHE Project and bring it to college campuses and universities.
The SHE Project, Part 1 is up through Oct. 28 at UVM's Living and Learning Center Gallery in Burlington.
