A newly-discovered planet could have the potential to support extraterrestrial life. Scientists discovered a new planet that they are calling Proxima B, orbiting a red dwarf a little over four light years from Earth.
Not only does the planet show some similarities to Earth, it is also the closest planet detected outside of our solar system.
To learn more about Proxima B, the significance of its discovery and what happens next, VPR spoke with John O’Meara, an associate professor of physics at St. Michael’s College.
