The University of Vermont produces many graduates who go on to join the Peace Corps.
UVM recently ranked seventh among top volunteer-producing colleges and universities across the country, with 25 alumni currently serving worldwide.
In total, 857 UVM alumni have served in the Peace Corps.
Now, the university is strengthening that connection by becoming an official partner in the Peace Corps Prep program.
This year, both UVM and St. Michael's College became partners in the program designed to give college students knowledge and skills that would prepare them for Peace Corps work. Nationally, fewer than 50 colleges and universities are partners in the Peace Corps Prep program.
Jane Kolodinsky is the chair of the Community Development and Applied Economics (CDAE) department at UVM. She spearheaded the university's application process.
