Each town in Vermont is required by state law to update its municipal plan every five years. As such, towns across the state are continually trying to find new ways to get residents involved in the process. In Bolton, they're throwing a pizza party.
Planners in Bolton are focusing on a town plan update from now until Town Meeting Day, in March. According to an article in the September edition of the town newsletter, The Bolton Gazette, there will be many ways to get involved in the coming months, starting with a community pizza party on September 30, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., at the Smilie School gym.
"Come to a neighborhood forum, fill out surveys on the Town’s website, participate in an art contest and identify priorities for the Town," the article states. "Join us at the community kickoff event to eat pizza and dessert ... and have a voice in planning Bolton’s future!"
Free childcare will be provided. The town asks attendees to RSVP to Emily by email or by calling 846-4490, extension 15.
Bolton planners say there will also be neighborhood forums held around town throughout the month of October. Residents are encouraged to join the planning commission to talk about issues in their area and what they would like to see in the future. There are four neighborhood forums scheduled:
- October 1: Duxbury Road Neighborhood Forum at the Kilpeck's Barn
- October 6: Bolton Valley Neighborhood Forum in the Fireside Room at Bolton Valley Resort
- October 15: Route 2 Area Neighborhood Forum in the Smilie School Gym
- October 20: West Bolton Neighborhood Forum at the West Bolton Golf Club
All forums will be from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., and light refreshments will be provided.
