Gov. Peter Shumlin's decision to abandon a single-payer health care system this session echoed at the state house last week as protestors from the Health Care is a Human Right campaign interrupted his inaugural address.
Shumlin said the program was simply too expensive.
It remains to be seen if the decision will have political ramifications for the governor, but health care analyst Hamilton Davis says Shumlin simply bailed when he realized he couldn't get the decision passed. Davis is a former journalist, who now blogs about health care reform at avermontjournal.com.
