Vermont State Colleges Chancellor Tim Donovan has announced that Dan Smith has been appointed president of Vermont Technical College.
Smith became interim president seven months ago. He took the post after then-President Philip Conroy agreed to retire. The change came in the midst of growing deficits at the Randolph Center school.
Before his appointment, Smith served as the state college system’s director of community relations and public policy. He is the son of former Vermont Congressman and Lt Gov. Peter Smith.
Smith will formally assume the presidency of the college on Nov. 10.
