Report: Scott Milne Splits With Campaign Manager

Less than eight weeks before the general election, Scott Milne is without a campaign manager.

The Burlington Free Press reports that Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott Milne and campaign manager Brent Burns have parted ways after just two months working together.

"I resigned Friday," Burns confirmed Monday. "For the last six years, I have been working in super high stress jobs. I needed to take a step back," Burns explained when asked why. "All the rest is between Scott and I."

The move comes before the general election campaign has really heated up in earnest; Milne's campaign has yet to come forward with any major policy proposals. Much of the candidate's pitch to voters has been less about what Milne says he will do right than it is about what incumbent Gov. Peter Shumlin has is doing wrong.

As of Monday evening, Milne has not named a new campaign manager. Recent campaign finance filings show that aside from Burns' firm, the Milne campaign has no consistently paid staff members.

Correction: An earlier version of this story misstated Burns' first name.
