Marion Milne, Former State Representative, Dies at 79

Former state representative Marion Milne has died. Milne represented Washington from 1994 to 2000.

She was also the founder of Milne Travel, and is the mother of Republican gubernatorial candidate Scott Milne.

Milne lost her seat in the House after voting in favor of Vermont's civil unions law. In a statement, Governor Peter Shumlin says Milne “approached all of her endeavors with passion and with a keen sensibility drawn from her years in business.” He added that she lost her seat "on a vote that will forever place her on the right side of history."

Lieutenant Governor Phil Scott says Milne "went above and beyond for her family, friends, clients, staff, the people who voted for her and even people who voted against her, and always for the people of Vermont."

Milne was 79 years old.
