Tim McQuiston, editor of Vermont Business Magazine, says there are two economic indicators that show Vermont's economy is going in the right direction: Vermont's 3.3 percent unemployment rate is one of the lowest in the country; and Vermont's per capita income is above the national average and at its highest rank ever among the states.
"You can't ignore these kind of statistics," says McQuiston. "Vermont's economy is the best now than it's ever been." McQuiston says it wasn't that long ago that Vermont's economic picture was a sharp contrast to today's.
"If you ask people who grew up here in the 1950s and 60s, Vermont was a poor place back then. And it simply is not now."
