Last spring, the legislature mandated that sexual assault and harassment cases received by the National Guard be made public and reported to the legislature. At a hearing before the legislature last month, the Vermont National Guard reported that there had been six sexual assaults in the last year.
Lieutenant Angela Lakey is the sexual assault response coordinator for the Vermont National Guard. She spoke with Vermont Edition about the process of reporting incidences of sexual harassment in the Guard.
