During his state of the state speech earlier this month, Governor Peter Shumlin said heroin and opiode addiction has taken a devastating toll on too many Vermont families. 

VPR has been reporting on the personal stories of Vermonters whose families have been damaged by addiction.

Reporter Jessica Ticktin spoke with a young woman who got clean from drugs, but has encountered other barriers as she tries to rebuild her life.
