Coalition Promotes Smaller Changes To Gun Laws, 10/22/13

(Ann Braden of Brattleboro) “Vermont happens to be one of the only two states in the nation that doesn’t have a state law prohibiting even violent felons from possessing weapons,” Braden says. “It’s the federal law, but we don’t reinforce that as other states do with our own laws.”

Dollar General Continues Vermont Expansion, 10/22/13

(Dollar General Spokesman Dan McDonald) “We had a fairly good presence already in northeast New York and to extend that into Vermont from a supply chain stand point made good sense from a business perspective,”

Vermont Steps Up Moose Monitoring, 10/18/13

(Wildlife Biologist Cedric Alexander, the state’s moose project leader) “If a moose walks by, the ticks on the end of the cluster grab on to it and they’re all grabbed on to each other so this huge glob of winter tick larvae, which are the size of a grain of sand come onto the moose and then they spread out.  Moose usually have 30,000 to 100,000 ticks on them,”

Weather-Resistant Modular House Unveiled In White River Junction, 10/24/13

(Steve Davis owner of Vermod construction in White River Junction) “The deal is that with this home you can become a net zero home for almost the same money as building a typical everyday modular home,”

Panel Wants Quick Vermont Yankee Decommissioning, 10/23/13

(Jim Matteau is a member of the panel and the former executive director of the Windham Regional Commission) “Prompt decommissioning it seems to me is a good thing, by itself, compared to SAFSTOR, and so that should be encouraged,”
