The number of traffic fatalities in Vermont over the last few years has hovered between the mid-50s to mid-70s. And drivers over 65, along with new teen-age drivers, have the highest crash rates per miles driven.
Sergeant Garry Scott oversees traffic operations for the Vermont State Police. He spoke with Vermont Edition about the statistics and what can be done to curb the numbers.
Note: Garry Scott will participate in a free class called Driving As You Age: What You Need To Know on October 17, at the Davis Auditorium at the University of Vermont College of Medicine in Burlington, Vermont. It is free and open to the public.
